About

This blog is maintained by the Department of Epidemiology at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health which is the oldest and among the largest of epidemiology departments in the world.  The blog is an up-to-date information source for news, information, and research of the department.

The establishment and growth of the Department is key to the history of epidemiology as a public health discipline in this country and throughout the world. Today’s faculty adhere to the legacy set down for them in the early days of the Department: they are established scientists of excellent reputation, with extensive teaching experience The Department of Epidemiology offers a broad selection of educational and research programs that provide training for the following degree programs: master of health science (MHS), doctor of science (ScD), master of science (ScM), doctor of public health (DrPH), and doctor of philosophy (PhD). The diverse disciplines within epidemiology include infectious diseases and chronic diseases encompassing cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, respiratory diseases, digestive diseases, congenital malformations, cancer, and occupational diseases. Human genetics, statistical epidemiology, social and behavioural studies, health disparities and health outcomes, are of major interest.
